In 5-weeks, I have been on this latest journey for 52 weeks. The first 10 weeks went very well losing nearly 14 lbs but the last 35 weeks have been a little harder. I pray that I can continue to work on this and eventually be back down below 200. We shall see what the next 5 weeks brings.

Thanks again for all of your support and journeying with me this past year and the years before.

Monday - Memorial Day...Relaxing at home listening to the rain and sounds of nature. Worked my ankle out some as I worked on other things in the recliner. Enjoyed a little picnic with my neighbors.

Tuesday - Stretching

Wednesday - Arms & Stretching

Thursday - Didn't get to work out team meeting followed by a trip to the dentist.

Friday - Afternoon at Churchill Downs. Walked to and from car. Walked back and forth from inside to outside, standing watching the horse races all in a slight heel. Amazingly my foot never hurt me.

Saturday - Twin 4-year old bubble birthday party. Entertaining 4-year olds.

Sunday - Racing day...probably walked about 1.5 around the course 4 times. Stood around talking, driving, and riding with folks.

Monday - Arms & Stretching

Tuesday - Stretching, Potluck day with Italian Food, delicious

Wednesday - Abs, Arms, Stretching...Ankle exercises at home. MV also took my measurements to I can see even though I may not be losing weight that my measurements are changing for the better. Hopefully indicating that I am gaining muscle and losing weight. I do not currently have a copy of these measurements, a bit afraid to see them.

Thursday - Stretching, Happy Hour after work

Friday - Arms & Ab workout, Pizza Party at work

Saturday - Laundry, a nice 1.5 lap which led to very poor to no sleep Saturday night. I am really not sure how I was still moving at 11 pm on Sunday night after the last of sleep on Saturday night.

La Semana Cuarenta y Uno: Towards Healthy Living

La Semana Cuarenta y Uno: Monday, April 20, 2015 -- 215.4 lbs

La Semana Cuarenta: Monday, April 13, 2015 -- 216.0 lbs (10.8 lbs -- 40 Weeks; -4.4 -- Past 10 Weeks)
La Semana Treinta: Monday, February 2, 2015 -- 211.6 lbs (15.2 lbs -- 30 Weeks; .8 -- Past 10 Weeks)
La Semana Veinte: Monday, November 24, 2014 -- 212.4 lbs (14.4 lbs -- 20 Weeks; .2 -- Past 10 Weeks)
La Semana Diez: Monday, September 15, 2014 -- 212.6 lbs (14.2 lbs -- 10 Weeks)
La Semana Cero: Monday, July 7, 2014 -- 226.8 lbs

Monday - Sunday night, I was starting to have a bit of a scratchy throat. It really felt like allergies from being out in the sun and spring pollen all day and part of Sunday. It was still around on Monday with a bit of a cough nothing too serious though. I was also dehydrated from being out in the sun all day Sunday and not drinking enough water.

Arm/Hip workout plus stretching

Tuesday - Stretching. Again not feeling well a bit more coughing and I came home and fell asleep on the couch early. Granted that was after working almost 11 hours.

Wednesday - No workout at work but I definitely got a workout in the evening. The indoor karting place had a special event, and I finally decided I would try my hand at a competitive event. It was 100 lap reverse track with baby powder strategically placed around the track. I ended up completing 108 laps with 10 lap qualifier followed by the 100 lap event which I finished 2 laps behind the winner. It was a great night. My shoulder is killing me and I did not sleep well because of that on Wednesday night. It was still sore on Thursday.

Thursday - That dreaded doctor's appointment after labs the day after Easter. I was not expecting great results as I had gained weight and not watched my eating quite as well as I should.

Cholesterol numbers were up again though not quite as bad as this time last year. My white blood cells and other numbers around infection were high again. Dr. did not seem too concerned with that at this point.

Insulin number was way down actual on the low side. Seems like a pretty drastic shift but okay. A1c was still on the higher side.

He provided a Z-Pak to fight this congestion in my chest that seems to be getting worse and not better and after not sleeping well Wed night and not feeling well, I took a nice little nap in the latter part of the afternoon.

Friday - All day conference in Indianapolis, a lot of car riding and sitting in conference sessions. A bit of walking here and there. By the end of the day, the sinus infection had compounded in my head as well as my chest. My head was literally ready to explode. I crashed on the couch before it was too late and slept for several hours before waking early Saturday morning

Saturday - Woke around 2:30 am Saturday morning and stayed awake for a couple hours before falling back to sleep. I couldn't sleep in too much as I had a commitment across the river at 11 am. Then in the afternoon, I spent time with friends in Louisville. My energy level was way day so basically did a bunch of sitting and watching the 4 year old play. I did try to jump on the mini trampoline with her a bit. I was asleep on the couch again by 8 pm. I woke at midnight and stayed up for a couple hours.

Sunday - After staying awake a couple hours around midnight, I got back to sleep and slept until 8:30 am. I had to get up to head to the other side of the river for a 1st Communion Service of a friend's daughter. I stayed over there until the party at 5 pm. I felt better than I thought for the day but still not great. Head still all congested and clogged and my chest is all infected with a nice deep chest cough.

What's new starting today, Monday, April 20?
The doctor is trying to find ways for me to improve my health especially the cholesterol numbers without getting started on cholesterol meds just yet. There is a new drug out there for Type 2 Diabetes that I am on the borderline with some insulin resistance thrown in the mix that is supposed to help with weight as well as the diabetic elements. So starting today, I am going to begin this new medicine to see how that helps me. Apparently folks lose quite a bit of weight as it clears your kidneys of the excess sugars that are hanging out there. This is why I decided to start on Monday to go alongside my normal weekly health report.

I also hope to get back into a healthier eating routine but this week is already starting off on the wrong track. The not feeling well component helps none.

La Semana Treinta y Cinco: Monday, March 9, 2015 -- 215.4 lbs

La Semana Veinte: Monday, November 24, 2014 -- 212.4 lbs (14.4 lbs -- 20 Weeks; .2 -- Past 10 Weeks)
La Semana Diez: Monday, September 15, 2014 -- 212.6 lbs (14.2 lbs -- 10 Weeks)
La Semana Cero: Monday, July 7, 2014 -- 226.8 lbs

Not a great week with lots of things happening minimizing my free time during the day to take a break and workout. I did manage to stay consistent, which at this point I will take. It is interesting a couple times when checking weight during the middle of the week, I find myself down a pound or two, but by Monday, I am back up to 215. I just seem to do myself in on weekends but maybe things can change as summer nears.

Monday - I had another commitment so was unable to make it to workout or stretch.

Tuesday - Flexibility class and karting (5 8-minute races, 2 track backwards) in the evening for a bit of exercise.

Wednesday - Flexibility & Workout combined

Thursday - Left early in order to beat traffic and make it home (about 4 hour drive) to spend the Easter weekend with family and get my annual haircut.

Friday -  Worked from home and got a haircut. This will be interesting as the front has been this short before but the back is really short this time. Interested to see how things go when I just let it dry on its own.

Saturday - Helped dad load up a very old treadmill, recliner, and a large metal door into the truck to go to the dump. And then did a bit of walking around shopping with my mom and aunt, granted that was after a nice lunch at TGI Fridays.

Sunday - After a nice Easter lunch with the family, drove back home in order to start another week.

La Semana Treinta y Siete: Towards Healthy Living

La Semana Treinta y Siete: Monday, March 23, 2015 -- 215.6 lbs
La Semana Treinta y Seis: Monday, March 16, 2015 -- 215.4 lbs
La Semana Treinta y Cinco: Monday, March 9, 2015 -- 215.4 lbs

La Semana Treinta: Monday, February 2, 2015 -- 211.6 lbs (15.2 lbs -- 30 Weeks; .8 -- Past 10 Weeks)
La Semana Veinte: Monday, November 24, 2014 -- 212.4 lbs (14.4 lbs -- 20 Weeks; .2 -- Past 10 Weeks)
La Semana Diez: Monday, September 15, 2014 -- 212.6 lbs (14.2 lbs -- 10 Weeks)
La Semana Cero: Monday, July 7, 2014 -- 226.8 lbs

Monday a rough day after going to bed with a sore throat, I woke with a sore throat, congestion in the head, and a bit of ear pain. I went on into work as plenty to do and wasn't feeling quite horrible yet. As the day progressed, the scratchy throat lessened but the pressure and congestion in the head continued. I tried my best to drink plenty of liquids finishing off a container of juice and a couple glasses of hot tea, lemon and then mint. I didn't really each much during the day and then tried to loosen everything up with some spice dinner from Qdoba. It didn't really help. I was on the couch by 5:30 pm and got up again around 7:30 pm.

Nonetheless, I did go participate in a workout though I skipped out on about 4 laps around the track. We did 3 sets of 30 curls and 15 punches. Then 3 sets of 30 straight arm lifts and side butterfly lifts with 2 laps between. I did the first 2 sets of laps but skipped the last. Then we did 2 sets of 20 circles with arms stretched straight out each direction followed by a lap, which again I skipped the lap. Then I did the stretching class. Overall not bad for not feeling well.

Tuesday slept poorly through the night, woke up early, worked, went back to bed about the time to really go to work, slept a couple decent hours, got up, worked some more from home, ate, and worked crashed early on the couch and was in bed by 11, which is early for me. My head was exploding all day long and still pretty rough when I went to sleep.

Wednesday..I actually slept half way decent and didn't feel nearly as bad when I woke or throughout the day. I did participate in workout and stretching. We did a lot of leg related exercises my hips are going to be killing me. It was a think 1 minute timed exercises: back kicks, front kicks, front kick with opposite side kick, holding leg in front and kicking from knee down out, punches, front curls, reverse hand curls, butterfly raises. There is probably more but that's all i can remember at this time. We also made one lap around the track. Then it was off to about 25 minutes of stretching.

Thursday flexibility class. Eye appointment and a very good but unhealthy dinner. The cravings for greasy food continues. Eyes in fairly good shape just changed a decent amount since the last time. I was so exhausted when I got home, I crashed on the couch shortly after 9:30 pm.

Friday a busy day at work followed by a nice drive to Lexington after work. Again, I was tired and fell asleep as my friend was reading his boys their bedtime stories.

Saturday was a very busy but nice day. My friends KB & CB have 3 little ones, 2 twin boys almost 4 and another boy 15 months. The twins are attempting to be potty trained once again so we spent the day at the house hoping for their realization and desire to potty on the potty and not on the floor and in their pants. The youngest wanted to hang on mom every time she went into the bathroom with his brothers. One time, he acted as if he wanted to go outside or maybe he thought mommy was hiding outside. So I grabbed shoes and his jacket and outside we went. I got a good little walk in pushing him on the bike around the driveway and up and down the sidewalk until lunch time. There was also a few accidents to clean up and little ones to get to the bathroom to hopefully not make any more mess. We also had a great time playing with Play-doh. We built a cute little green snowman with pinkish/red face, hat, scarf, arms, and legs followed by some skis.

Sunday....Autocross season has started :) I took two trips around the course, drove some, and rode with others. The morning was very cold sitting out in the wind trying to register folks, but by the end of the day, it had warmed up and was pretty nice.

Two weeks left until Easter...How are you becoming a better you and changing some bad habits or things that keep us from the best version of ourselves serving others?

La Semana Treinta y Seis: Towards Healthy Living

La Semana Treinta y Seis: Monday, March 16, 2015 -- 215.4 lbs
La Semana Treinta y Cinco: Monday, March 9, 2015 -- 215.4 lbs

La Semana Treinta: Monday, February 2, 2015 -- 211.6 lbs (15.2 lbs -- 30 Weeks; .8 -- Past 10 Weeks)
La Semana Veinte: Monday, November 24, 2014 -- 212.4 lbs (14.4 lbs -- 20 Weeks; .2 -- Past 10 Weeks)
La Semana Diez: Monday, September 15, 2014 -- 212.6 lbs (14.2 lbs -- 10 Weeks)
La Semana Cero: Monday, July 7, 2014 -- 226.8 lbs

Things have been going in the opposite direction but at least the exercising has started though sporadic. And this week I more maintained than gain from previous weeks. Who knows maybe these allergies/cold that I came down with Sunday night will help me stop eating so much junk, then again maybe not.

Monday's workout focuses on the arms and hips: 4 sets of 15 squats and front leg kicks, 2 laps with arm punches, 2 laps with front arm raises, 3 sets of 10 lunges, rear kicks. My hips are tight and sore. My bottom left foot outside heel was really pulling. I could feel it doing front leg kicks and then after the workout during stretching.

Tuesday's workout some stationary arm workout with weights and then 8 mins on the bike.

Wednesday worked from home so I could make it to church in time to finish setup for Catholic Faith Around the World Africa and also prep for my presentation on religion and culture in Africa. It was an amazing evening.

Thursday's workout consisted of using arm machines doing a couple different seated rows, lateral pull downs, and something else.

Friday no workout though I was up on my feet giving a presentation at work on True Colors Leadership.

Saturday, I attended a speaker in Evansville and on my return had to stop and do a bit of weight lifting packing summer tires into my car. Then on Sunday it was unpacking the winter tires out of the car putting them back in storage. I also did a bit of picking up and laundry on Sunday before going to hear another speaker in Lexington.

A very, very busy week. One more talk to give on March 28 and then who knows what happens next.

Thanks for all your support and prayers!

La Semana Treinta y Tres: Towards Healthy Living

Post 500 - Who ever imagined that I would hit 500 posts, but with this post, I have hit that mark. Thanks for journeying with me over the past many years in a very sporadic manner.

La Semana Treinta y Tres: Monday, February 23, 2015 -- 213.6 lbs
La Semana Treinta y Dos: Monday, February 16, 2015 -- 212.8 lbs
La Semana Treinta y Uno: Monday, February 9, 2015 -- 213.6 lbs

La Semana Treinta: Monday, February 2, 2015 -- 211.6 lbs (15.2 lbs -- 30 Weeks; .8 -- Past 10 Weeks)
La Semana Veinte: Monday, November 24, 2014 -- 212.4 lbs (14.4 lbs -- 20 Weeks; .2 -- Past 10 Weeks)
La Semana Diez: Monday, September 15, 2014 -- 212.6 lbs (14.2 lbs -- 10 Weeks)
La Semana Cero: Monday, July 7, 2014 -- 226.8 lbs

What a week....

Monday as promised was a snow filled day! The early morning had a mere inch or two but by midday we were up to about 8 inches of a very light powdery snow. I worked from home on Monday which was a good thing because finding a clean parking spot or even getting back into the parking lot would have been quite a chore. I did venture out about 5 pm to clean the 4 to 9 inches of snow off the car depending on where you measured. Actually, the passenger side may have had even less as the wind blew across the passenger side to the drivers leaving a nice mound of snow on the driver's side. The snow was so light definitely no fun for kids trying to make snowmen or snowballs, but it was great for cleaning off. Though no flexibility class Monday, I did get a slight arm workout pushing the snow off the top of the car and even more of an adduction/abduction workout for the legs. I found myself really using my right leg over the left. Though I tried to consciously use the left leg, it really was not happening. Amazingly, I was not too awful sore on Tuesday or Wednesday after the leg workout.

Tuesday due to warnings out in the county in which I worked, unsure of the status of the roads, and really not wanting to spend 2+ hours on the road, I decided it was best to stay home to maximize the time to work.

Wednesday - Friday, I returned to working in the office and also started a new workout. Wednesday & Thursday included flexibility class but then on Wednesday and Friday, I started a new workout. I have asked our trainer at work to provide me with a low sweat arm workout that only requires me to change into a t-shirt but will not make me sweat a ton. She provided me with two workouts this week of about 20 mins. This also works out well as I seem to have very little time to escape from work to workout, eat, or anything else.

Wednesday Workout
4 Sets of 30 curls & 30 punches with 5 lbs weights and 15 push-ups against a wall (not exactly but thats the easiest way to describe)

Friday Workout
5 lb weights again but this time we did both arm and hip exercises. I am not sure I can remember everything we did but here are a few...squats, leg kick outs, leg kick backs, curls, punches, flies.

My right heel is really bothering me this week. Thursday night I could barely walk on it later in the evening. I think part of that has to do with the boots I have been wearing due to the snow.

The weekend has been a weekend of sleeping...I fell asleep by 8 pm if not more like 7 pm on Friday night not to really wake again until 7:30 am Saturday morning. I took a nap about 11 on Saturday after doing some laundry and kitchen cleaning. I did end up staying up late on Saturday night to wake up about 7:30 am Sunday for church. I came home from church, grocery shopping, and oil change to take another 1 to 1.5 nap. By Sunday evening, I was tired again and just wanted to crawl on the couch, watch TV, and sleep. I didn't give into that until about 10 pm. Granted Thursday really put a wrench in my sleeping pattern as I took about 1.5 nap about 8 pm so I could get up and work at 11 pm. I then ended up staying up until 3 pm between working and then going to the store in order to get ingredients to make some homemade salsa for work on Friday.

It was quite a week and the weeks ahead are definitely not going to slow down, but should be full of exciting adventures. Until next week, have a blessed day! Thanks again for journeying with me!

La Semana Treinta y Dos: Towards Healthy Living

La Semana Treinta y Dos: Monday, February 16, 2015 -- 212.8 lbs
La Semana Treinta y Uno: Monday, February 9, 2015 -- 213.6 lbs

La Semana Treinta: Monday, February 2, 2015 -- 211.6 lbs (15.2 lbs -- 30 Weeks; .8 -- Past 10 Weeks)
La Semana Veinte: Monday, November 24, 2014 -- 212.4 lbs (14.4 lbs -- 20 Weeks; .2 -- Past 10 Weeks)
La Semana Diez: Monday, September 15, 2014 -- 212.6 lbs (14.2 lbs -- 10 Weeks)
La Semana Cero: Monday, July 7, 2014 -- 226.8 lbs

A successful week of stretching. I even went on my own with no trainer on Tuesday. Sunday, some serious necessity and grocery shopping occurred, and by the end of the day, my right heel was killing me especially after sitting still. This really concerns me about getting out and hiking again as just general walking hurts.

Now shopping was quite the adventure though not as bad as I had expected. I actually did not need the bread, eggs, and milk that everyone was flocking after preparing for the foot of snow and subzero temps by end of week. But it truly was chaotic and busy especially at Kroger's.

I am also impressed with the savings I had at both Target and Kroger, especially Kroger. I don't believe that there was one thing bought at Kroger that was not either on sale or had a coupon and many items had both. Granted that resulted in a full rearrangement of the freezer when I got home, which finally has a good deal of food in it again. The sad thing is that I still have tons of food that I need to buy to fill the cupboards again.

Hopefully over the next few weeks, I can slowly refill the cupboards by finding needed items on sale and/or have coupons.

Kentuckians enjoy the snow! I have a feeling I am going to be sore tomorrow more on that next week.

La Semana Treinta: Towards Healthy Living

La Semana Treinta: Monday, February 2, 2015 -- 211.6 lbs (15.2 lbs -- 30 Weeks; .8 -- Past 10 Weeks)
La Semana Veinte: Monday, November 24, 2014 -- 212.4 lbs (14.4 lbs -- 20 Weeks; .2 -- Past 10 Weeks)
La Semana Diez: Monday, September 15, 2014 -- 212.6 lbs (14.2 lbs -- 10 Weeks)
La Semana Cero: Monday, July 7, 2014 -- 226.8 lbs

30 weeks have passed since starting the latest attempt to lose weight and get back down to 180 or less. The last 20 weeks have been a very slow go, but I am encouraged that I have at least maintained to loss a bit over the recent 10 weeks which included 2 big eating holidays and a birthday.

I hope to get out soon and try to do some more hiking again. I need to work on stretching a lot more as the tight muscles from my hips to my toes are causing issues with my feet. Both feet continue to have heel spur/plantar fasciitis pains primary focused in the right. The left foot continues to have pain in the top of the foot though nowhere near what it was. It too seems to be similar to the other where once you walk and stretch it out the pain is not as bad.

I really don't remember what all happened last week. I believe I made it to stretching the middle few days. I did do many of my foot exercises on Friday while I sat waiting for the dermatologist to come in and check me out. Thankfully, another clean bill of health from any skin cancers.

Saturday I did some walking to the IU basketball game up the stairs and back to the car followed by some karting in French Lick, IN. I also went karting on Tuesday night. Running three races both evenings.

The next 10 weeks gets me to the middle of April. The goal for then is to be back out hiking on a weekly basis, a more defined eating routine, and continued working to complete all the necessary exercises to reduce future injuries.

Thanks again for going on this journey with me! Sorry for the delay of this weeks update!

La Semana Cero: Monday, July 7, 2014 -- 226.8 lbs

Monday, we did a good job and actually went to stretch though the trainer was out sick.

Tuesday, I went to the sleep doctor and worked from home as I had a big huge presentation to give at work on Friday.

Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday no such luck at going to stretch, but my presentation did go smoothly on Friday afternoon. I received several good comments.

Saturday & Sunday a lot of sitting around working on various projects. I did fold some laundry and do a small bit of grocery shopping.

I also tried to make something to eat for the week but failed as every time I thought of something to make their was a key ingredient or two missing from the cupboard or refrigerator. I really need to do some massive shopping, which means I should check out the ads and cut some coupons.

I started getting the paper again as it was just over $4 a month for Sunday papers, which is a bargain and the timing seems right since I am in need of so many things.

La Semana Veintocho: Towards Healthy Living

La Semana Veinteocho: Monday, January 19, 2015 -- 212.8 lbs
La Semana Veintisiete: Monday, January 12, 2015 -- 209.8 lbs
La Semana Veintiseis: Monday, January 4, 2015 -- 211.8 lbs

La Semana Veinte: Monday, November 24, 2014 -- 212.4 lbs (14.4 lbs -- 20 Weeks; .2 -- Past 10 Weeks)
La Semana Diez: Monday, September 15, 2014 -- 212.6 lbs (14.2 lbs -- 10 Weeks)
La Semana Cero: Monday, July 7, 2014 -- 226.8 lbs

I really don't get the great fluctuation in weight the past few months. I really didn't have a lot to eat this weekend though Sunday's food was probably not overall the healthiest with a few donuts, a very tasty omelet (by far the healthiest thing I ate all day, thanks CB), and Captain D's Fish & Shrimp. I also did have several glasses water/ice tea before going to bed so maybe I was still retaining all that especially with all the salt that was probably in the dinner.

In terms of my weekly progress towards stretching, home exercises, etc., the progress continues to be small. I am probably hitting about half the Flexibility classes in a week and really not doing anything outside of that.

I was able about mid-week to work on the eating habits during the day a bit getting back to yogurt and salad. The evenings, I went out and grabbed something many nights as there just isn't much in my apartment. I really do need to take time to inventory and work on a game plan for eating again.

Maybe, I can get some things done this weekend if I am not too warn out by the time the weekend comes. I only have plans for Saturday evening and of course Mass on Sunday morning. Otherwise, I hope to work on several projects that I have on my plate and maybe a plan for eating healthier and doing my exercises. I would love to get back to hiking again.

La Semana Veintetres (Birthday Week): Monday, December 15, 2014 -- 210.8 lbs
La Semana Veintedos: Monday, December 8, 2014 -- 213 lbs
La Semana Veinteuno (Thanksgiving Week): Monday, December 1, 2014 -- 211.4 lbs

La Semana Veinte: Monday, November 24, 2014 -- 212.4 lbs (14.4 lbs -- 20 Weeks; .2 -- Past 10 Weeks)
La Semana Diez: Monday, September 15, 2014 -- 212.6 lbs (14.2 lbs -- 10 Weeks)
La Semana Cero: Monday, July 7, 2014 -- 226.8 lbs

Next report will come in two weeks as I will be unavailable to weigh in next Monday.

Not really sure what happened this past week, I truly believe I am holding a lot of water because there is no way I gained nearly 4 lbs this week after spending half of it not eating at all. See more information below.

Last Monday, I went to see the Foot Doctor. He still feels that things are progressing in a positive direction. I am to use up the cream and call back when it is gone. Also he suggested getting some 3/4 Powerstep or SuperFeet orthotics for my shoes. So I bought a pair to put in my dress shoes. I guess they are doing okay. I spent half the week not going anywhere. I also really need to work on doing a better job with the ankle exercises and my hip exercises.

Monday -- Accomplished a lot but just not my exercises.

Tuesday -- The one thing I really dislike is a stomach bug and that is what I dealt with from the time I awoke until about 6 pm, every hour or so starting about 6 am. By 3 pm, I swore it should have been midnight. It had been one of the longest days ever. Nothing stayed down until after 5 pm. I spent the day on the couch with a trash can nearby all day. Thankfully things finally settled down and I slept through the night.

Wednesday -- Another day at home trying to recoup from Tuesday. I was not aching but all my back and chest muscles were sore from sleeping on the couch and vomiting all day Tuesday. I did get up and shower and washed clothes, sheets, blankets, etc to rid the apartment of germs.

Thursday -- A rough start to the morning, feeling a bit nauseous, but went off to work. I believe the core of the issue was the lack of eating the previous days. I managed through the day and then had a lovely evening catching up with a friend at Queen of Sheba, Ethiopian restaurant. I was a bit leery but the idea was great minus the slightly more spicy lentil dish, kik wot.

Friday -- Feeling much better, actually had a little kick in my step in the morning. Again did not do any exercises and missed flexibility due to craziness at work. I did spend another lovely evening catching up with an old friend and holding/feeding her 4.5 month old.

We also went through a 'Drive-Thru' Christmas that her church put together. It was a nice experience hearing the story of Christ from pre-birth to resurrection with live enactments and story telling by the preacher.

Saturday -- Cupcake & icing making from scratch. This was my first experience at either of those specifically, but from what I hear they were good. The rest of the day was spent visiting a bunch of folks and delivering Christmas presents and 1st birthday present to my godson.

Sunday -- Laundry, kitchen cleaning, present wrapping & clean-up, packing for upcoming trips, and fun @ Bluegrass Indoor Karting (3 races). A few of the ankle exercises.

Have a very Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! I will return again in the new year!

La Semana Diecisiete: Towards Healthy Living

La Semana Diecisiete: Monday, November 3, 2014 -- 211.6 lbs
La Semana Dieciseis: Monday, October 27, 2014 -- 209.4 lbs
La Semana Quince: Monday, October 20, 2014 -- 211 lbs (15.8 lbs -- 15 weeks)

La Semana Diez: Monday, September 15, 2014 -- 212.6 lbs (14.2 lbs -- 10 Weeks)
La Semana Cero: Monday, July 7, 2014 -- 226.8 lbs

Still limping along not sure how things really are progressing. The left foot still has pain though the pain currently has moved from closer to the toes towards the middle of the foot, which in turn also means it is aggravated with slightly different movements of the  foot. I spoke to the doctors office on Friday and she said to continue the therapy and the 3 times a day cream therapy. Then we scheduled a follow-up for next Monday with the doctor.

Besides the anterior tarsal tunnel syndrome on the top of the foot, the foot also is fighting a heel spur and plantar fasciitis. The coconut therapy being performed for several weeks on the calf, shin, ankles, and bottom of the foot has seen progress. She says the calf and shin muscles are not in knots and gritty. The ankles are improving while the bottom of the foot still needs more work. Granted we started the bottom of the foot and ankles after the calf and shin so hopefully with a few more treatments those will be good to go as well.

Monday
Actually was a good day of following through on home therapy stretches and hip exercises.

Tuesday
Not so good on home therapy but physical therapy and completed the 8 mins on the bike followed by some new ankle/foot exercises. And also didn't make it to flexibility class due to a meeting schedule on top of it.

Wednesday
Home therapy and flexibility class

Thursday
Decent work on home therapy, flexibility class, and physical therapy with 8 mins on the bike which was a bit slower than normal weeks only completing about 2 miles instead of 2.3 miles. We continue to do the electrode therapy on the top & bottom of the foot. This time we moved it towards the center/arch of the foot due to the movement of the pain. Also continued the iontophoresis with dexamethasone treatment after the electrode therapy, but this week moved the treatment from point of pain to point of entrapment of the nerve. I think it does help some initially.

Friday
Home therapy and flexibility class.

Saturday
Home therapy. Accomplished a bit of laundry. Made homemade banana bread. Now, the goal is to not eat it all in a couple of days.

Sunday
Home therapy. Fixed breakfast and lunch for the week. Greek yogurt, frozen fruit, and salad.

Eating habits are struggling the last few weeks with being so busy and somewhat stressed, I have not been making it to the store to get appropriate things. I hope this week to get back to eating salads for lunch.

Healthier Living: Take 51

Week 51 -- 200.6 (+8 lbs in 10 weeks, therefore total loss of 10.8 lbs after 50 weeks)
Week 49 -- 201.3 (Back to week 21 not a good sign)
---------------------
Week 41 -- 192.6 (+2.2 lbs in 10 weeks, therefore total loss of 18.8 lbs after 40 weeks)
Week 31 --190.4 (11.4 lbs in 10 weeks and total of 21 lbs after 30 weeks)
Week 21 -- 201.8 (5.6 lbs in 10 weeks and total of 9.6 lbs after 20 weeks)
Week 11 -- 207.4 (4 lbs after 10 weeks)
Week 1  -- 211.4 pounds (Starting Weight)

The past week proved to be a positive directional move because my weight was even higher prior to leaving town last Monday.

Last week, I ate decently but at the same time was on the move and doing service all day. The previous week I made it to the gym once. Hopefully, I will start making it to the gym more soon by taking advantage of the gym at work as well.

Healthier Living: Take 49 Return Edition

Exercise has been minimal to non-existent for the past 8 weeks. Eating habits have been horrendous due to laziness, lack of shopping, and never being around.

The mini-marathon in April is not going to happen. Between being injured, sick, and extremely busy, I am way out of shape at this point in time. The foot is not really sore but I also have not done anything on it for months now. I have ran once on the treadmill in the last almost 4 months and that is about it.

Hopefully after the first week of April things will settle back in, and I can get back into a better routine. One problem is my schedule versus my friends schedule places us not able to get to the gym at the same time. But maybe I will figure out a way to work out at work instead.

I am not sure what the plan is going to be in terms of running. Currently, I am disengaged from the mini-marathon idea because it truly does not seem that the Derby mini is going to work. Contemplating finding another one of interest to run in but really not sure. I believe a lot can start taking shape in the coming months once a couple things settle out.

Thanks for checking in and supporting me on this journey. Plan to get back to weekly writing. Next week may be hit or miss as spring break takes me to Appalachia next week with the HS youth.

Healthier Living: Take 41

Week 41 -- 192.6 (+2.2 lbs in 10 weeks, therefore total loss of 18.8 lbs after 40 weeks)
Week 31 --190.4 (11.4 lbs in 10 weeks and total of 21 lbs after 30 weeks)
Week 21 -- 201.8 (5.6 lbs in 10 weeks and total of 9.6 lbs after 20 weeks)
Week 11 -- 207.4 (4 lbs after 10 weeks)
Week 1  -- 211.4 pounds (Starting Weight)

The past 10 weeks have been rough and obviously not successful in the weight loss though thankfully only a small gain.

Contributors though not excuses for the weight gain
- Thanksgiving, Birthday, Christmas, New Years, Leaving a Job, Starting a Job
- Stopped running after December 1st due to heel spur, busy life, darkness, laziness, lack of motivation
- Since December 1, the body has been acting out of the ordinary, as well.
- Working out at the gym has also been very minimal though not totally non-existent.

Next 10 weeks ending on April 8 will require a lot of dedication, motivation, and commitment. In just over 12 weeks is the Louisville Derby Mini-Marathon, I still have intentions to complete this event this year and have to the first part of March to make that decision. Hopefully having been off the foot for almost two months now means that I can successfully get back to running and accomplish this goal.

To lose more weight, I really have to focus on preparing food and not eating junk. This too is going to take some dedication along with prioritization.

May the next 10 weeks be full of great things and great accomplishments. Thanks for following and supporting me on this journey!

Saturday Smiles Veintinueve: A Bit Late

What another marvelous week!

Amazing how the Lord provides even when things do not go as previously planned! Last weekend was a great awakening to that fact again. After having planned to spend the weekend in Indiana and seeing a lot of friends, plans ended up being almost 100% changed. Everyone in Bloomington was sick and others had plans, therefore I convinced a new friend, EJ, from church to join me for a trip to Indiana.

The opportunity to spend with EJ and take her to her first IU basketball game was lovely. I was able to briefly meet up with a couple Bloomington folks even though lunch plans too did not go as planned. Next time, I will hopefully enjoy some Mandalay and Coconut Chicken Soup. It was definitely a blessing to see everyone and catch up.

The last big adventure of the day was going to Greenwood for an apartment warming party for two previous Franklin students, RKP & ZM. Though the weather was rough and it was a bit out of the way, I would not give up the wonderful opportunity to support and see not only RKP & ZM but other previous New Student Mentors and Resident Assistants from my time at Franklin. Afterwards, we enjoyed some Ritter's Custard in Franklin and a tour of the campus.

Overall the day was an amazing adventure full of reconnecting and seeing the awesome wonders the Lord provides through His love.

Reminder that our plans are not always His plans but He will show us the way and provide us marvelous things!

Have a blessed week!

Healthier Living: Take 39

Week 39 -- 193.6
Week 38 -- 191.8
Week 37 -- 191.4
--------------
Week 31 -- 190.4 (11.4 lbs in 10 weeks and total of 21 lbs after 30 weeks)
Week 21 -- 201.8 (5.6 lbs in 10 weeks and total of 9.6 lbs after 20 weeks)
Week 11 -- 207.4 (4 lbs after 10 weeks)
Week 1  -- 211.4 pounds (Starting Weight)

Another rough week with too much eating and no exercise. Definitely not going to lose the 9 lb goal for the 4th 10 week period, but hopefully, I can recenter and get focused again on getting in shape and eating healthier.

Hoping to get into the gym and start running again this week. Maybe next week will have a new outlook.

Thanks for your support!
